Swing Low!!!

Ladies and gentleman, the official teaser trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has been released. Just a few weeks ago we witnessed the odd movie stand popping up in selected multiplexes around the US and Canada, creating quite a stir online amongst fans. The movie stand/poster was split into three parts featuring none other than: Spider-Man himself (Andrew Garfield), new villain Electro (Jaime Foxx), a large robotic Rhino (hinting at Paul Giamatti's look for the villain), and a distant figure hovering above the city on a Green Goblin looking glider. Since the announcement that Chris Cooper (American Beauty, Seabiscuit) would be taking on the role of Norman Osborn, who remained largely unknown in the first instalment of the Sony Pictures/Marvel re-boot, fans have been speculating as to how the character would be returning to the silver screen. From the look of the teaser trailer, it would seem that we can start getting excited by the return of the Goblin. With Willem Dafoe's memorable performance from the first franchise series however, how will Chris Copper's performance match up? Hopefully we will see more of the character in the first trailer early next year.

Along with an updated costume for Spidey, the look of villain's: Electro, The Rhino, and The Green Goblin, seem to match with that of the previous Marc Webb directed blockbuster. Vibrant colours and game looking CG, suggest that this to will be a Spider-Man for the modern generation. Pre-teens to adults who like to see action that defies all logical explanation will definitely be excited by this teaser, which in comparison to the unfinished CG test that was used for the first Amazing Spider-Man teaser back in 2011 is pretty impressive. Jaime Foxx's Electro make up does give off a kind of Schwarzenegger Mr.Freeze vibe to the character however, keeping up with the fact that these new comic book adaptations are to match in some way to the updated Marvel comic's Ultimate series, the look of the characters do reflect what comic book fans have become accustomed to. So really the only character still wearing funky spandex is the film's title character. Nevertheless, the idea that Spidey's new outfit is supposed to look more like the comic books than ever, with larger white eyes on the mask and...well thats about it, fans can be sure to look forward to a movie that will hopefully match up to the hype.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set for release 2nd May 2014, the trailer for which can be viewed following the link below. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 sees returning cast members: Emma Stone, Sally Field and Martin Sheen, along with newcomer Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn.
